Flat Roofing

Flat Roof Installation and Repair

You’ll see flat roofs all over the Verde Valley—from shops in Old Town Cottonwood to homes in West Sedona. Some folks choose them for the look, others for the cost or efficiency. Whatever the reason, flat roofing makes sense here.

At Hahn Roofing, we’ve been working with flat roofs for decades. We install and repair these systems every day—on houses, garages, commercial buildings, you name it. Whether you’re looking at foam, TPO, or another flat roofing system, we’ll walk you through what works best for your property and the conditions around it. Our job is to help you get a roof that’s built right, holds up, and doesn’t cause headaches later.

Why a Flat Roof?

Flat roofing isn’t just for commercial buildings anymore. From Cottonwood to Camp Verde, we install flat roof systems on everything from modern desert homes to backyard garages and carports. And we don’t just install—we repair, maintain, and replace them too.

FLAT ROOFING

Local Experience You Can Trust

Flat Roofs That Work in the Verde Valley

Flat roofing systems need more than just a waterproof layer—they need to be designed for where we live. Here in Yavapai County, our roofs face harsh sun, dramatic monsoon downpours, and big swings in temperature.

Whether it’s a pueblo-style home in Sedona or a retail building in Camp Verde, a good flat roof needs to handle all of it. That’s why every flat roofing system we build starts with the site and the structure, not a catalog.

Materials We Work With

TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin)

TPO is one of the most popular flat roofing materials today—for good reason. It’s affordable, reflective (great for Arizona heat), and holds up well under UV exposure. Jeremy and the team often recommend it for commercial buildings where efficiency and low maintenance are priorities. However, it’s less forgiving in installation than some alternatives, so it matters who’s doing the work.

Modified Bitumen

Bitumen works well for certain residential builds and small commercial roofs. It’s layered, flexible, and holds up under foot traffic better than most. We sometimes recommend it when existing structures have unusual penetrations or drain placements, especially on older homes. It’s a little heavier and needs proper slope planning to prevent ponding.

Elastomeric Coatings

These coatings are often used in maintenance and repair, but also work as a top layer for specific hybrid systems. They help extend a roof’s life and reflect sunlight. Hahn uses elastomeric coatings as part of annual maintenance plans or when a client wants to buy time before a full replacement.

SPF + Hybrid Systems

Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) combined with coatings or membranes can be a great solution for unique structures—especially off-grid or hard-to-access locations. It offers insulation and water resistance in one step, but it needs to be applied right and recoated regularly. Jeremy’s team uses these systems when custom slopes, drain redirection, or lightweight solutions are required .

Residential Applications

Flat roofs aren’t just for office buildings—they’re part of everyday life here in Northern Arizona. You’ll see them on pueblo-style homes in Sedona, ADUs in Cottonwood backyards, and off-grid homes tucked into the red rocks. They make sense here, but only when done right.

The key challenge with flat roofs is drainage. Without proper slope and planning, water won’t shed—and that’s where the trouble starts. That’s why every system we install includes custom drainage strategies, from internal scuppers to fabricated parapets and slope tweaks tailored to the home.

Homeowners often ask us about solar-ready or green roof options. The short answer? Yes—but they have to be built for it. That means reinforcing the deck, mapping out weight load, and making sure access and water management are planned from day one. We’ll help you think through what you need now, and what you might want down the line.

Commercial Applications

Flat roofing makes a lot of sense for businesses in the Verde Valley. You’ll see our work on retail centers in Cottonwood, office spaces in West Sedona, multifamily buildings in Camp Verde, and light industrial properties along Highway 260.

One thing these projects all have in common: they need to stay open. We know how to work around your tenants, your customers, and your schedule. Whether we’re tackling an aging roof or a new install, we’ll stage the work to minimize disruption—no shutdowns required.

We also focus on what happens five, ten, even twenty years out. That means choosing materials and detailing that stand up to UV, traffic, equipment loads, and seasonal movement. Hahn Roofing also offers warranty options based on real conditions—not just lab specs.

Our Flat Roof Installation Process

Every flat roof we build starts with slope. Even “flat” roofs need pitch to move water where it’s supposed to go—and we make sure that’s designed into the framing, insulation, or tapered system from the start.

Next comes the underlayment. We use moisture-resistant products that create a second line of defense under the membrane, helping to prevent leaks, protect insulation, and manage vapor in our dry, high-altitude climate.

Membrane choice depends on the project—TPO, modified bitumen, or a hybrid system—but sealing is always critical. We heat-weld or torch-adhere seams for maximum durability, especially in areas that take the most sun or wind.

Drainage is where the details matter. Hahn doesn’t just install prefabs—we often fabricate our own parapets, scuppers, and collector boxes right here in-house. Jeremy’s team is known for custom drain layouts that match the real-world flow of your roof. That means fewer pooling problems down the line, and better long-term performance.

Flat Roof Repairs & Maintenance

Even a solid flat roof needs upkeep. The sun, standing water, and big temperature swings can wear down the surface or loosen up seams. At Hahn Roofing, we’ve seen it all—and we know how to catch problems early.

We handle repairs for things like ponding, UV damage, and separation around seams or drains. Every fix starts with solid prep, and we match materials to your current system for a clean, lasting result.

We also offer maintenance plans and reflective coatings that help extend the life of your roof. Some folks just want an annual walk-through, others need help after monsoon season. Either way, we’ll check it out with you, talk through what we’re seeing, and fix what needs fixing.

HAHN ROOFING

The Hahn Roofing Difference

From the strip malls in Cottonwood to municipal buildings in Prescott and multifamily complexes in Camp Verde, we’ve built commercial roofs that fit the structure and the setting. Northern Arizona weather doesn’t play nice, and flat roofs here take a beating—UV, wind, dust, and hard rain, all in one season.

Our crews plan for the things most companies don’t think about: how runoff moves during a Sedona monsoon, how insulation behaves on high desert buildings, how parapets should be shaped to avoid ice damming in Chino Valley. These details come from decades of work across the Verde Valley—and they show up in every job we do.

Why Local Businesses Trust Hahn

We’ve earned that trust one roof at a time. Hahn Roofing is based right here in Northern Arizona, not a company parachuting in from Phoenix. Our shop is in Sedona. Our crews live in these towns. And we know the commercial properties along Highway 89A, in West Sedona, over in Cornville, and all the way up to Prescott Valley.

When something needs to be custom-fabricated—whether it’s scuppers, collector boxes, or flashing—we don’t wait weeks for a shipment. We build it ourselves and get it installed right.

And because we’re local, we get it: You can’t shut down for weeks. Your tenants need access. Your inventory can’t get wet. That’s why we work fast, clean, and smart—so you don’t have to worry about what’s overhead.
